Quick history to build on: Sept 21, 1901 — W. Scott Heywood hits the Jules Clement No. 1 well in Evangeline Field just NE of Jennings. 7,000 barrels a day gusher in a rice field. That one well kicked off the whole Louisiana oil industry and transformed Acadia Parish forever.
